The Tarishe Curse Book Promo

Available NOW at Amazon.com in KINDLE, PAPERBACK, and HARDCOVER formats.

SUMMARY: A thrilling piece of fiction from the Queen of Werefolk's point of view. It is difficult enough for Duvalla and Kresh to protect their young family in a world of Hallows Eve creatures, but this feat proves near impossible when an old witch bent on vengeance against the werewolves casts a Tarishe curse that manipulates both heart and mind. The battle is not only with a sword but an internal struggle—a fight to love the ones that Duvalla has sworn under a spell to hate, and to hate the one who through evil enchantment manipulates her heart.

Cover Reveal for The Tarishe Curse

This Halloween, look forward to werewolves, witches, warlocks, and other Hallows Eve creatures in my new book, The Tarishe Curse. This thrilling tale is set to be released on October 31st, 2022 only on Amazon.com. Learn about the Tarishe curse from the Queen of Werefolk's point of view. Follow her as she desperately seeks any means to undo the curse contrived by an old, malevolent witch. But before you get your hands on the book, be one of the first to enjoy this cover reveal!

Did you know that the beginning chapter in The Tarishe Curse was originally written in 2012 as a short story? I wrote it for my friend, Cathie (Duvall) Hunt, who possesses a seriously spooky love for Halloween. I thought it would be fun to incorporate some Hallows Eve creatures into a haunting story as a treat for her. Fact: the first chapter of The Tarishe Curse is still that original short story in its completion. When Cathie asked me "What happens next?" I was stunned at first. No additional storyline existed in my mind; it wasn't meant to be a longer tale. But after some thought, I determined to write a new chapter every Halloween and post it online for readers to enjoy. Over the next few years posting annual chapters, the original eventually developed into something substantial. And now, eleven years later on this very Halloween 2022, The Tarishe Curse comes to an end in the form of a 300+ pages book available in paperback, hardcover, and e-book for kindle.

Now... what about the cover? Glad you asked.

A little about the creation of this cover: Yes, I do my own artwork, and though I am certainly not a professional artist, I enjoy creating my book covers. As far as I'm concerned, writing books trumps cover art, but I do keep full control over the entire book this way. For The Tarishe Curse cover, I wanted specific details to be included. First and foremost, a full Tarishe moon. This red moon is a bewitching natural phenomenon in my fictional world mentioned early on in the book. Surrounding the village of Tarishe is a forest of thin aspen trees; this I also wanted on the cover, including an aura of dreary darkness. I think I nailed the ambiance.

For me, it didn't seem quite enough to have atmosphere only depicted on the cover, though it did an effective job of setting the mood for my book. But it felt... empty. What I wanted was to introduce the main character here with her ominous silver sword. I kept her features hidden on purpose, leaving her face as mysterious as her conflicting identity. Yes, you'll have to read the book to understand that reference.

After adding her as a focus under the light of the Tarishe moon, I was pleased. So, without further delay... here is the final cover of The Tarishe Curse. Look for it on Amazon.com

10 Things You Want to Know About The Tarishe Curse

The Tarishe Curse, written by Richelle E. Goodrich, began as a short story back in 2012. Chapters were added each Halloween until it eventually became a novel-length book. To prepare you for meeting the Hallows Eve creatures in this thrilling tale, here are ten things you want to know about The Tarishe Curse:

1. This book started out as a short story for a friend of the author who absolutely loves Halloween. The first chapter was originally meant to be the entirety of The Tarishe Curse.

2. The character, Catherine, was named after the author's friend to whom the book is dedicated.

3. The character, Duvalla, is also named after the same friend. Duvall was her maiden name.

4. Circumstances in the story are never exactly what they seem. Remember that.

5. Catherine the Huntress wields a terrible silver sword that drives fear into the hearts of werewolves.

6. There are vampires involved in the story too. Begrudgingly involved.

7. A full Tarishe Moon comes but once a year, as red as blood in color.

8. No curse can persist while a full Tarishe moon glows in the night sky.

9. Yes, there is a haunted mansion.

10. One character will survive this Hallows Eve tale to become the main character in a future book by Richelle E. Goodrich, already in its planning stages. It is not who you think.

Cover Reveal for the FINAL BOOK in my NEW Saga

had an itch to do things differently with this final book in the Harrowbethian Saga and decided to work backwards by completing the cover before editing the story. I know, I know, it means you still have to wait a few months before the actual book is released, but heynow you have a visual to help your imagination run wild guessing how Queen Eena's adventures will come to an end! That's half the fun about reading a series, isn't it?

Creating this cover was somewhat bittersweet since all the while I knew it was the last one I would illustrate for my very first HUGE writing accomplishment. Who ever thought I would actually write an entire original saga? Not me! However, now that I've scaled that mountain, I'm psyched to try again.

After weeks of contemplating the crazy events that take place in this culminating book, I eventually envisioned the cover I wanted. I chose to showcase Queen Eena elegantly dressed alongside her immortal watch dog, the impish Edgarmetheus. Both characters are dynamic individuals who play vital roles in this book. The background scene is a representation of a new planet you have yet to discover.

I'm sorry that I can't give a release date for book six entitled, Eena, The Companionship of the Dragon's Soul, but it will be worth the wait! I can tell you that the paperback copy of book fiveEena the Tempter's Snarecontains the very first chapter of book six. You might want to check it out!

NOW...

Without further ado...

Meet Kahm Derian, Captain of the Kemeniroc

Kahm Derian (Captain Derian) is head of Harrowbeth's national security and commander of a galactic battleship known as the Kemeniroc. He was born into his important position, having taken over as commander some years after his father's death.

Derian is a wise, capable, and cunning leader with a naturally assertive and intimidating personality. He is an expert pilot and a master swordsman. He heads a mallawum team know as the Dragon Slayers that are often favored to win each season of play. It was at a very young age that he learned to wield a sword in order to play the game.

The captain runs a tight ship, expecting nothing but the best from his men and himself. He has earned the loyalty of the soldiers under his command throughout years of service on the Kemeniroc. During an unprecedented civil war that lasted over fourteen long years, he saved their lives in battle numerous times.

Derian fights to protect Harrowbeth and his queen, Sha Eena, although the pair have an uncanny habit of squabbling, voicing contradictory opinions on nearly every subject. Despite being smitten with her, the captain finds himself frequently aggravated by the young queen's impetuous decisions that are often the fault of her inexperienced and tender heart.

You can read more about Kahm Derian and his friends in the Harrowbethian Saga, an epic fantasy/scifi/romance series by American author, Richelle E. Goodrich.

Year Six of The Tarishe Curse

It's getting close to that spooky time of year, All Hallows Eve.  You know what happens about this time, I add on another few pages to my ongoing Halloween tale starring the queen of werefolk.  If you haven't read the previous portions of this cursed story, now is the time to do so!

Are you wondering how this tradition began?  I'll tell you.
Six years back, I decided to write a short story for a friend who could easily be crowned Queen of Halloween (she is that obsessed with the holiday.)  After reading the story, she asked me an unexpected question.
       "What happens next?"
Uh. . . well. . . nothing.  It was supposed to be a simple Halloween short story.
But she got me thinking.  What might happen next if I were to continue the tale?  That started an annual writing tradition that continues today.  Every Halloween, I add to an ongoing adventure that includes werewolves, a powerful and vengeful witch, devious vampires, treacherous gargoyles, and other frightful creatures of the night.  It is a spooky delight!

       So prepare yourselves!

Read the beginning chapter of The Tarishe Curse and either enjoy it for the first time or refresh your memory of Duvalla and Kresh.  By request from my friend, Cathie, (to whom this story is dedicated) I am posting the next portion of The Tarishe Curse on October 27th, 2017.  Get ready!

A Wonderful Surprise

So... there I was, running around the house completing my daily tasks, keeping up a seriously good pace. I was multitasking like you can't imagine when... BAM! out of nowhere a UPS courier dropped off an unexpected package at my front door. Naturally, everything came to a screeching halt.

Okay, in truth I wasn't at the house to receive the small, cardboard box that was delivered. I was driving my son home from guitar lessons (carefully keeping to the speed limit) when the dark, ominous UPS truck pulled away from my house. But the sight did make me curious.

As soon as I stepped through the front door, my family announced, "Mom, it's your book!"

"My what?"

"Your book!  We think it's here!"

I noticed a package on the kitchen table. My eyes flickered to the upper left-hand corner of the box at the name of a publishing company. My heart picked up tempo. This wasn't supposed to arrive for another week.

With trembling hands I managed to swipe a sharp blade through the packaging tape before opening the flaps. I reached in to carefully remove a layer of padding. Beneath that was a letter from the publishing company; it quickly fell by the wayside. Beneath that was my book.

MY book.  Mine!

I dared to touch it--a bright, glossy paperback with my artwork and my name printed on the front cover.

So how do you react at seeing your story actually fashioned into a tangible book? A daring dream come true. Five years of effort and painstaking rewrites and earnest prayers wrapped up in a cardboard box. All I could do was stare at the book as my fingers handled the pages, slowly flipping through the thickness of my creative work in print.

"It's my book," I managed to breathe to those standing around the table watching me. I believe at that moment I learned what euphoria feels like.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me make this dream come true. Thank you for the kind support of friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances, and even strangers
who helped successfully promote and sell my book. Thank you for your part in the fulfillment of my dream.

Truly,
Richelle E. Goodrich
